Cognitive Production Systems – AI in Production (Talk)
- Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marco Huber (Professor)
- University of Stuttgart and Fraunhofer IPA Stuttgart
- More information
Fraunhofer IPA in Stuttgart is one of the largest institutes within the Fraunhofer Society with a strong focus on production technologies and automation. Research and technology transfer efforts on machine learning and artificial intelligence are concentrated at IPA’s Center for Cyber Cognitive Intelligence (CCI). This talk gives an introduction to CCI‘s mission and typical industrial applications being addressed. Furthermore, an overview of the research areas and a deep dive into selected topics are provided. Examples are 6D pose estimation for robotic bin-picking, explainable machine learning, Bayesian filtering for object tracking, or event correlation mining.
Biography: After studying computer science and receiving his Ph.D. degree at the University of Karlsruhe (TH), Prof. Huber headed the research group "Variable Image Acquisition and Processing" at Fraunhofer IOSB in Karlsruhe from 2009 to 2011. He then worked as Senior Research with AGT International in Darmstadt until 2015. From April 2015 to September 2018, Prof. Huber was responsible for product development and data science services of the Katana division at USU Software AG in Karlsruhe. At the same time, he taught as a adjunct professor (Privatdozent) in computer science at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT). Since October 2018, he is professor for cognitive production systems at the University of Stuttgart and also head of the Center for Cyber Cognitive Intelligence (CCI) at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA. His research focuses on machine learning, sensor data analysis and robotics in the production environment.
